19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of 2023.
Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
He came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.
Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
